LiveEO’s ambitious goal is to monitor 1 billion assets across the globe with its unique SaaS solution until 2030.

We are looking for highly skilled Data Engineers to join our team. LiveEO leverages satellite imagery and artificial intelligence to provide actionable insights that drive decision-making across various industries. An example is the precise detection of trees and their height in high resolution imagery to protect our customers power grids from tree fall.

The focus of the role is on building robust and automated data pipelines around our geospatial processes that handle terabytes of data. Our pipelines involve a wide-range of topics such as efficient tiling strategies, merging of different data sources and challenges around various types of digital elevation models such as disparity matching & offset-correction. Usually these processes serve as pre- or post-processing steps for our Machine Learning models. We don’t expect you to be an expert in all of the above but you should have the willingness to dive into and work on multiple topics.

Your challenge

Own and operate the data pipelines that power Treeline, our satellite-based vegetation risk solution for power grid/railway operators.
Build and scale automated workflows using Python, Prefect, and Ray to process large volumes of geospatial data in a robust and efficient way.
Design, implement, and optimize Postgres-backed FastAPI services for managing asset data and delivering geospatial insights.
Build monitoring, logging, and alerting into workflows to support smooth operations and reduce manual work.
Collaborate closely with Product, Analytics, and Operations teams to deliver reliable and accurate data products.
Contribute to a culture of DataOps and MLOps, emphasizing reproducibility, version control, automation, and fast feedback.
Run data pipelines and services on AWS, using infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native tooling such as S3, EC2, ECR, Aurora, IAM, SQS/SNS.
You’ll be part of a stream-aligned squad that automates the product end to end — from satellite data to actionable insights.

Your profile

4+ years of hands-on experience building and operating production-grade data pipelines in cloud environments.
Strong Python engineering skills, with a focus on clean, maintainable, and testable code.
Experience with workflow orchestration tools, ideally Prefect; familiarity with Airflow or Dagster is a plus.
Solid understanding of distributed compute frameworks like Ray, Dask, or Spark.
Hands-on experience building and deploying FastAPI services and working with Postgres or similar relational databases in production environments.
Understanding of data architecture best practices (e.g., ETL/ELT design, schema versioning, metadata handling, reproducibility).
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and containerisation using Docker.
Located in or willing to relocate to Germany.
